Hi,
Can anyone recommend some camera shops in Cardiff - I think there are a few
in the arcades but are there any others in the city centre? Or maybe in
places like Canton, Roath, etc?

Depends on what type of camera you are looking for.
There are a few second hand shops in Roath selling 35mm camera equipment.

Thanks Dave, I am looking for a new 35mm. I know there is a Jessops in the
Hayes but am aiming to avoid that so... I assume there are other camera
shops in the centre?

There's two others, Cameraland in Royal Arcade and Camera Centre in
Morgan Arcade, both within 100m of Jessops. Use www.yell.com if you
need their addresses / phone numbers.
Why are you buying new btw, there's shit loads of good value second
hand gear around now casual users are going digital and you do get
some form of warranty from the shops.

I wish I had now. I bought a Olympus C3000Z about a year and a half ago.
Gives great results but I wish I had gone for an SLR now. Having said
that I know 3 people with the one I would have gone for (Canon, I've
already got an EOS300) and 2 out of the 3 said they wouldn't recommend
it. Oh well....
